MWRBC 09-10: Oct. 31-Nov 1, 2009

I eagerly invite all BGA members and coffee lovers to the 2009-2010 Midwest Regional Barista Competition. The event will be held in St. Louis, Missouri from October 29 - November 1, 2009.

Kaldi’s Coffee will again host the event at the historic Soulard Preservation Hall. Over the past few years, the Midwest has built a solid coffee reputation by sending baristas to the USBC finals the past three years.

We invite and seek competitors, judges, and volunteers. To sign up for any of these positions, visit http://members.scaa.org/train/rbc/midwest/default.aspx

In conjuction with the SCAA Skill Building Workshop weekend, the BGA is hosting the Southeast Regional Jam November 12th through November 15th, held at Dilworth Coffee and Counter Culture Coffee's Training Centers in Charlotte, NC. This educational jam will include sessions on barista competition preparation, dialing in espresso, manual brew methods, community building, as well as plenty of open jam time. It will be capped off with a Latte Art Throwdown featuring individual competition and a regional City vs. City Showdown, and again featuring the amazing DJ abilities of superstar barista in his own right, Lem Butler. Baristas will also have the opportunity to take the BGA Level 1 Certification exam that weekend.
The jam will feature amazing SE barista and coffee illuminaries from around the Southeast. For more information, check out the website, which will be adding a registration area in the next few days. Sounds like it's gonna be a good time had by all.
